Canadian Election: Federal parties answer our environmental policy questions

As the historic turnout for the Global Climate Strike made clear, environmental concerns are at an all-time high among Canadians. We wanted to help all the federal parties address these concerns by making clear, actionable commitments that could be shared with Canadians to help them make the best choice possible as they head to the polls. 
 
WWF-Canada, in collaboration with 13 other leading environmental organizations, is now releasing the responses to this Federal Party Survey on Environmental Platforms.  
 
Our questions addressed the issues that matter most to you, like climate change, biodiversity, nature protections, single-use plastics, and ensuring Indigenous and environmental rights. We sent this survey to the six main political parties in July 2019 and received answers from five of them: Bloc Quebecois, Conservative Party of Canada, Green Party of Canada, Liberal Party of Canada and the New Democratic Party. The People’s Party of Canada did not respond. 
 
The non-partisan survey of the federal parties’ positions on environmental issues was developed to help Canadians make informed voting decisions. We’ve included a summary of the survey below, and you can click here to read through the parties’ full responses. 
 
The survey represents the collective priorities of all of the following organizations: Canadian Environmental Law Association, CPAWS, David Suzuki Foundation, Ecology Action Centre, Ecojustice, Équiterre, Environmental Defence, Greenpeace, Nature Canada, Pembina Institute, Sierra Club Canada Foundation, West Coast Environmental Law Association, Wildlife Conservation Society Canada, and WWF-Canada.
