Tell Me Tuesday: How can companies best make a difference? WWF October 25, 2011 Share: Share This Page: Share with Facebook Share via Twitter Share via Linkedin Share in email It was a great event, with some pretty amazing entertainment (fabulous Inuit throat singers Kathleen Merritt and Nancy Mike, the delightful Canadian Tenors and nine-time Grammy award winner John Legend), beautiful décor and delicious food. We had over 300 supporters come out to celebrate WWF’s past 50 years and what’s still to come in our next 50. A WWF ice sculpture at Panda Ball (C) Riannon John/ WWF-Canada WWF also took advantage of the opportunity to celebrate some important supporters, including one of our top corporate partners, Loblaw Companies Limited. Galen G. Weston was on hand to accept the Partnership in Conservation award on behalf of the Company, and in his speech, discussed the importance of generating change from within the corporate sector. We at WWF are big believers in working with companies like Loblaw Companies Limited, Coca-Cola, RBC and HP. As our president and CEO Gerald Butts put it in his Panda Ball remarks: “Most important, we have learned that we can accomplish nothing alone. That leadership means building long-term partnerships, with governments, corporations and local organizations. That’s the only way to solve the big problems we face. “We are, in particular, proud of our work with the corporate sector. We know that supply chains are global in their reach and deeply local in their consequences. And that constructive engagement with globally significant companies is the most effective and efficient approach to solve problems.” We work with companies to raise awareness, to improve their operations, to support our efforts. What do you think is the best way for companies to make a difference?
