Meet our supporter that's climbed the CN Tower 29 times WWF June 18, 2019 Share: Share This Page: Share with Facebook Share via Twitter Share via Linkedin Share in email Nature lover and longtime WWF-Canada supporter, Doug Dorsey, has been climbing the CN Tower for 28 years — just one year shy of the 29 years that WWF-Canada’s CN Tower Climb for Nature has existed. “I’ve been a big believer in the work that WWF does,” says Doug, adding: “When I found out about the fundraising event, I realized it was for me. It was a way for me to show my support for a wonderful cause and achieve my bucket list item of going up the tower. Government isn’t leading the way [for our environment], so it has to come down to the individual.” Doug and his daughter at the CN Tower Climb for Nature. Tackling the tower’s 1,776 steps each year (that’s 51,504 steps over 29 years!), Doug has been consistently supported by his family and friends, including his daughter. “The years that my teenage daughter joined me on the Climb are some of my fondest Climb memories,” Doug says. He hopes that through WWF-Canada’s programs and initiatives like the Climb, “public awareness will grow concerning the urgency of the need to take action and reverse some very scary trends that are accelerating in the wrong direction.” Doug holding the headband that he wears each year to the Climb. © Antonella Lombardi Since his first Climb in 1991, Doug has raised nearly $55,000 for WWF-Canada’s conservation programs. Thank you for climbing to new heights for nature, Doug! Learn more about how you can make an ongoing difference for wildlife.
