VIFF: Heaven and Earth series begins WWF Canada September 30, 2011 Share: Share This Page: Share with Facebook Share via Twitter Share via Linkedin Share in email https://wwfcastg.wwf.ca/viff The festival kicked off last night with Pedro Almodóvar’s provocative film The Skin I Live In, at the historic Vogue theatre. Tonight, the WWF-sponsored series Heaven and Earth begins, and I’m excited to see Surviving Progress, from executive producer Martin Scorcese and our good friends at the NFB. Intelligent and compelling, Surviving Progress is nothing short of a massive taking-stock and features some of the world’s great contemporary thinkers including Jane Goodall, Margaret Atwood, David Suzuki and Stephen Hawking. Inspired by Ronald Wright’s bestselling non-fiction book about societal collapse, this documentary explores the idea of “progress traps” in our modern world. For your chance to win two passes to see one of these films, all you have to do is share this link and mention @wwfcanada on Twitter. You can also follow me @sarafalconer for news and reviews of green films throughout the festival. Not on Twitter yet? Just leave me a comment below and I’ll add you to the draw. Stay tuned tomorrow, as I bring you an interview with the director of Waking the Green Tiger, and some more movie passes too. And enjoy the show!
