Beginning on September 20th, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup calls on everyone to do their part to keep our lakes, rivers, streams and oceans clean and healthy. © Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup Check out the many cleanup sites here in Canada to find one near you! Or join the party at one of these six celebration cleanups that WWF and Vancouver Aquarium are hosting on Saturday, September 20th. Register for these soon as space is limited! Last year across Canada, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup hosted 1,950 sites and 58,500 registrants cleaning up 3,035 kilometres of shoreline and filling 10,891 garbage bags. The highest percentage of trash collected came from discarded single use food and beverage items — things like water and pop bottles — and from items related to smoking. Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited is a joint conservation initiative led by the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF.
